My name is Sara M Rutkowski, Certified Labor Doula (CAPPA) and Childbirth Educator, mother of Wade, born June 2003, and William born July 2005 and wife of Tony, married Aug 1997 I love motherhood and everything about childbirth and love to help women to have the best experience possible. I've lived in Grand Junction, CO since May of 2001 and am originally from Northeast Washington State.
Every woman should walk away from her birth feeling like it went well. My goal is to help women and their families to have the best, most positive birth possible. Having a Doula on board can free up the husband to enjoy the moment and not feel the pressure of coaching and making sure every detail of his wife's wishes are taken care of. I will supply you with information to make you aware of all your options during labor and delivery. After the baby is born a Doula is still a great asset. Women often need support after they have returned home to begin a new chapter of life. It's always nice to have a seasoned mother to answer questions. I also assist in breast feeding. Sara is also a certified childbirth educator and is in the process of becoming a certified lactation consultant.
Training and Qualifications
I attended my first birth at age 19 before I knew what a Doula was. I started my certification in January of 2004 but am not new in the birth world. To date (06/07) I have attended 25 births (Check out the photo page) and have more scheduled. I typically do not take more then two clients a month so that I can give you the attention needed, however, if you call and I'm booked, I will GLADLY put you in contact with another GREAT doula.
